PORCELAIN
Porcelain is made from a white clay, mainly kaolin. It vitrifies during firing, which makes it translucent when thin.
THE TECHNIQUE
It is generally cast in molds in the form of slip because it is very capricious. It is difficult to work by hand. It does not withstand tension well and has a tendency to crack. The shaped pieces require the greatest care and a regular prolonged drying time.
